Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions do you treat?

I specialize in addressing persistent mobility, stability and recovery issues that have lasted from 3 months to 30 years, helping clients navigate through these challenges by leveraging my extensive experience in dealing with various dysfunctions of the body.

What is Body Healing?
In simple terms, the body operates in either a performance state or a healing state. The healing state focuses on promoting recovery or restful conditions by eliminating obstacles that impede the body's natural ability to recover.

What is Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS)?

IMS, a swift and effective form of acupuncture, is employed to quickly shift the body into recovery states. Whether applied to a single body part or multiple areas, IMS aids in improving movement, breathing, and overall recovery.

How can Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) contribute to improved mobility and strength?

Our muscles comprise two essential components:

Passive (structural) elements consisting of elastin and collagen, which we address through static stretches. Collagen plays a crucial role in providing structure, strength, and support to the body, while elastin contributes to the body's elasticity, being roughly 1,000 times more stretchable than collagen.

Active (energy-consuming) elements involve contractile units known as muscle fibers and muscle spindles.

Muscle fibers are the powerhouse behind force generation and movement, while muscle spindles serve as sensory receptors that monitor changes in muscle length. This feedback loop informs the nervous system to regulate muscle contraction and maintain proper posture. Together, these components play a vital role in the overall function and control of skeletal muscles.

When muscle fibers are in a stretched state, they tend to be weaker. This is why performing static stretches before exercises can increase the risk of injury, and why the bottom of a pull-up, when the shoulder muscles are elongated, is particularly challenging.

On the flip side, muscle fibers that are persistently contracted may be perceived as stiff, knotted, or sore, impacting joint compression, mobility, and proprioception, all while leading to tendon injury.

IMS not only stimulates muscle fibers to relax but, when applied to groups of muscles that collaborate in movements like an Ass to Grass (ATG) squat—engaging hip flexors, glutes, and hamstrings—it fosters proprioception and muscle activation coordination, enhancing the mind-body connection. The result is often an immediate improvement in muscle tone and mobility.

What breathwork techniques do we use?

To enhance movement, and stability, we employ breathing that increases abdominal pressure, coordinating deep core muscles like transverse abdominis, thoracic diaphragm and pelvic floor.

What is the typical treatment length?

Both body healing and intramuscular stimulation can be completed in a 20-minute session. An initial block of 10 treatments is recommended to teach the body to automatically shift into recovery mode.

Do you guarantee results?

While positive outcomes are often observed, results can vary for each individual. I work with clients to guide them and their bodies through the repair and recovery process.
